Can comedy translate for international audiences?

This is a much discussed issue among our clients prior to their campaigns. The consensus is that even if some of the subtleties are lost in translation, the effect of bold, engaging characters telling a story is still much more effective than a traditional corporate video. If we look to TV and movies we see that comedies, such as Friends, Seinfeld and The Office, travel successfully and sell around the world. The Big Bang Theory has been sold to over 75 countries.

Recognisable people handling recognisable situations will always resonate in a way that cold instructions and ‘thought leadership’ do not. So the answer is a resounding ‘yes’ – comedy does travel, like an arts student on a gap year.

Endorsement Films

Who doesn’t love trailers? Coming soon to a conference room near you…

As part of the roll-out of the Restricted Intelligence campaign, sometimes it’s helpful for companies to let their staff know that something new and different is coming. Something light-hearted in tone, but regarding a serious issue… But rather than starting with the teaser trailer, some organisations have found that a message from the CEO (or someone else with authority in the business) can build a bridge between the serious world of the business, with the lighter tone of the series…

Because of confidentiality agreements, we can’t show you the endorsement films we’ve already made… Fortunately, our very own Creative Director Jim agreed to play the straight man in this example of how an endorsement film might look.

Project Management

Hey, we all need a little extra help from time to time.

From time to time we are asked for help rolling out the campaign – and whilst it’s not a service we offer, we of course wanted to help. Therefore, we have listed some of our freelancer friends below that we trust to be able to assist you in getting the most out of the campaign. We’re recommending them to you, and we’ve given them a crash course in all things related to Restricted Intelligence, but you’ll work with them directly, and so we’re not responsible if they burn the building down (don’t worry – they probably won’t).

Linda Rust, SecuriThink Corporation

Starting with the first season of Restricted Intelligence, Linda Rust was among the earliest adopters. Consulting with a Fortune 500 manufacturer on a multi-year, multi-million dollar information security (InfoSec) program with over 20 defense-in-depth technology workstreams, we were actively looking for high quality, effective resources to raise overall awareness of InfoSec issues among 12,000 employees in 15 business units and 130 global locations.

Restricted Intelligence was well-received and widely viewed from the outset. As this client raises the bar to build higher levels of InfoSec maturity and resilience, it makes winning the deeper commitment of all employees even more important. Restricted Intelligence is an integral part of the plan to build this momentum.

With a track record of many successful InfoSec projects that require both technical skill and business savvy, Linda’s clients praise her deep insight, flexible strategy, tact and skill in working from front line employees to the C-suite. Plans closely tied to your values and goals quickly pave the way for new habits that mean real change for your organization and its culture.
